Picture this Ramsay! There is a wall on 9 Street SE that is 1392 square feet of unused space that could be made into a bright and friendly welcome to the neighbourhood. The project will be led by myself and completed with residents and volunteers within the Ramsay community. In addition to its impact within our hood, the wall is also highly viewable from Inglewood and the pedestrian traffic on 9 Avenue SE. Eventually this wall will be taken down for the LRT construction, but in the meantime, having a colourful mural would be a better addition than the constant tagging and re-painting cycle that goes on.
Over the last several weeks I've made a draft to scale of the proposed design, circled the design to the neighbours on the block, the community association and our Ward 9 liaison. I've also put in several grant proposals to hopefully help offset some of the costs of supplies. We just received permission from the City of Calgary today and we have started a GoFundMe campaign if you would like to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/yyc-9-st-ramsay-amoeba-part-mural
If you are interested in volunteering your time or have any questions please don't hesitate sending me a note! Our goal is to start painting the mural mid-late September.
